«Записки Наукового товариства імені Шевченка» як джерело вивчення історії преси ХІХ – першої третини ХХ ст.

Abstract

Важливим джерелом для вивчення історії преси слугує нині поважний національний науковий часопис «Записки Наукового товариства імені Шевченка» (1892–). У статті розглянуто матеріали про пресу, опубліковані в цьому виданні впродовж 1892–1937 рр. Мета статті: виокремити й вивчити кластер публікацій часопису про пресу, зміст яких сприяє поглибленню чинних і формуванню нових знань про функціонування та розвиток української преси загалом та знакових для її історії пресодруків. Завдання статті: з’ясувати й охарактеризувати особливості (тематичні, проблемні, жанрові) матеріалів пресознавчого напряму, які розкривають редакційні стратегії щодо опублікування результатів прочитання авторами «Записок НТШ» української (українськомовної та іншомовної) преси. Для розв’язання завдань використано ретроспективний, контекстуальний, прес-кліпінгу, аналітичний, системний, контент-аналізу, історико бібліографічний, структурно-функціональний методи. З’ясовано, що опубліковані в часописі матеріали для вивчення історії преси ХІХ – першої третини ХХ ст. формують такі секції: 1) репрезентативна (наукові статті, розвідки, розправи); 2) аналітична (загальні/тематичні огляди преси загалом або ж певних пресодруків зокрема, докладний розгляд їхнього змісту та оцінювання); 3) бібліографічна (інформаційний огляд преси, короткий відгук про окремі публікації здебільшого задля залучення їх до наукового обігу); 4) біографічна (відомості про основні віхи життя та творчу діяльність, учасників процесу творення української преси, їхнє листування, некрологи тощо). Загалом, зосереджений на сторінках часопису пресознавчий дискурс потужної когорти українських інтелектуалів потребує й надалі уважного вивчення, що сприятиме збагаченню історії преси новим інформаційним продуктом.

The prestigious national scientific publication “Notes of the Shevchenko Scientific Society” (1892–) is a crucial resource for research on the history of the press. The article examines the press-related materials that were published in this periodical between 1892 and 1937. The purpose of the article is to identify and analyze a group of press-related publications, the content of which advances our understanding of the operation and growth of the Ukrainian press in general and specific press publications that are important to the press’s historical development. The objective of the article is to figure out and describe the features (thematic, problematic, and genre) of press studies materials that reveal editorial strategies for publishing the reviews of Ukrainian (Ukrainian-language and foreign-language) press in “The Notes of the Shevchenko Scientific Society”. The article employs retrospective, contextual, press clipping, analytical, systemic, content analysis, historical and bibliographic, structural, and functional methods to solve the tasks. It was found that materials published in the journal and related to the study of the press history during the 19th century and the 1930s form the following sections: 1) representative (scientific articles, research, and discussions); 2) analytical (general or thematic reviews of the press in general or certain press publications, a detailed examination of their content and evaluation); 3) bibliographic (informational press reviews, a brief review of individual publications, mainly to introduce them into scientific circulation); 4) biographical (information about the main milestones of life and creative activity, participants in the process of creating the Ukrainian press, their correspondence, obituaries, etc.). Overall, in-depth research on the press studies discourse of a significant group of Ukrainian intellectuals concentrated on the journal’s pages is worth continuing. It will help enrich the history of the press with a new information product.
