Учнівство та професійна підготовка друкарів у Східній Галичині: за матеріалами газети «Czcionka» (1872)

Abstract

Мета статті – виявити умови, норми та суперечності учнівства в друкарській справі Східної Галичини ХІХ ст. на основі матеріалів газети «Czcionka» за 1872 рік. У роботі використано історико-аналітичний, джерелознавчий методи і контент- аналіз для вивчення публікацій газети «Czcionka» щодо учнівства, освіти та умов праці молоді в друкарській галузі. Порівняльно-історичний підхід дав змогу зіставити практики різних міст у межах австро-угорського простору. Уперше здійснено цілісний аналіз уявлень про учнівство та професійну підготовку в друкарській справі Східної Галичини на основі матеріалів польськомовної профспілкової газети «Czcionka» (1872). Виявлено нормативні моделі професійного вишколу, вимоги до учнів, а також типові порушення й практики експлуатації молоді, які фіксувалися всередині самої друкарської спільноти. Стаття вводить до наукового обігу маловідомі джерела профспілкової публіцистики, що дає змогу уточнити соціальні уявлення про працю, освіту й етику взаємин у фаховому середовищі другої половини ХІХ ст. Аналіз матеріалів газети «Czcionka» за 1872 рік засвідчив високий рівень уваги друкарської спільноти до питань учнівства, професійного вишколу та морально-етичної поведінки в колективі. Попри існування офіційно затверджених «Приписів для учнів», освітній процес часто супроводжувався порушеннями: приймалися надто юні кандидати без належної підготовки; тривалість робочого дня перевищувала допустимі межі, а підприємці нерідко зловживали учнівською працею з економічною вигодою. У публіцистиці «Czcionka» простежується чітке прагнення до професіоналізації друкарської справи, підвищення освітнього рівня молоді та дотримання соціальної справедливості в стосунках між працедавцями, колегами й учнями. Стаття також засвідчує, що дискусії навколо навчання, оплати, гігієни та умов праці були частиною ширшого процесу формування фахової ідентичності та саморефлексії типографського середовища в другій половині ХІХ ст.

The aim of the article is to identify conditions, norms and contradictions of apprenticeship in the printing industry of the 19th-century Eastern Galicia, based on materials from the newspaper “Czcionka” published in 1872. The study applies historical-analytical and source- based methods, as well as a content analysis in order to research publications of “Czcionka” newspaper concerning apprenticeship, education and working conditions of youth in the printing sector. A comparative-historical approach is used to contrast practices of different cities within the Austro-Hungarian space. For the first time, a comprehensive analysis is conducted concerning perceptions of apprenticeship and professional training in the printing industry of Eastern Galicia, based on materials from the Polish-language trade union newspaper “Czcionka” (1872). This study identifies normative models of professional training, requirements for apprentices, as well as common violations and exploitative practices toward youth, as documented within the printing community itself. The article introduces little- known sources of trade union journalism into academic discourse, which allows for a more precise understanding of the social concept of labour, education and ethics of relationships in the second half of the 19th century. The analysis of “Czcionka” materials from 1872 reveals a high level of interest within the printing community to issues of apprenticeship, professional training, moral and ethical behaviour in the team. Despite the existence of officially approved “Regulations for Apprentices”, the educational process was often accompanied by violations: too young candidates without any proper preparation were accepted; working hours regularly exceeded legal limits, and employers frequently exploited apprentice labour for economic gain. The journalism of “Czcionka” reflects a vivid aspiration toward the professionalisation of the printing trade, the improvement of young workers’ educational standards and the pursuit of social justice in relations between employers, colleagues and apprentices. This article also demonstrates that discussions around studying, payment, hygiene and working conditions were a part of a broader process of shaping professional identity and self-reflection of the typographic sphere in second half of the 19th century.
