The article is devoted to current problems of the methodology and technology of creating journalistic texts. This topic is underdeveloped in modern Ukrainian journalism studies. The reason is the lack of special courses on creative workshops at the journalism faculties of most universities and the lack of appropriate textbooks and manuals for students and the unwillingness of teachers who do not have the practical journalistic experience to read such courses and to understand this issue from a theoretical and practical perspective. Instead, this topic actively circulates in the educational and scientific literature in the West. The authors of a certain kind of "good writing manual" are mostly well-known practicing journalists. The article offers the author’s vision of the outcome of a long-standing debate between theorists and practitioners on the question: whether good writing can be taught (learned). Writing can be taught but in limited literary forms that do not require journalistic interpretation of events and phenomena. This refers to materials that are part of the informational and partly analytical genres. The author substantiates the need for novice journalists to master the methodology and technology of text creation and understand the creative process components in general. The best foreign and Ukrainian examples of "good writing rules" are reviewed. The common and most important features of the analysed guides are highlighted and summarised: the presence of a daily desire to write; tireless work capacity and willpower; systematic reading of the best examples of good writing; keeping diaries and notebooks; recording the speech of characters from works – pearls of folk wisdom; developing an individual writing style. The concept essence of "the creativity torment" is elucidated in detail. This is done through the analysis of the works and memoirs of the best masters of words of foreign and Ukrainian literature and journalism. It has been proven that the throes of creativity are a journalist typical state. It can only be overcome, and inspiration state can be achieved, if you try your hand at it daily, you are motivated to create a resonant work, and if you scrutinise what your experienced predecessors have written. There are three stages of the creative process.
